Hair of the Hog Brunch

Yesterday we had the pleasure of going to the Mike Hess Brewing tasting room in San Diego for their 3rd annual Hair of the Hog Brunch. It's always hosted on New Years Day. Fun, noisy, all around great!

The beers were free flowing and there were some exceptional ones like Mocha Grazias cream ale on cask, Umbrix Imperial Stout and Brunus Robustus porter.

The crowning glory were these bacon whiskey truffles by Andrea's Truffles. Locally made in San Diego and amazing!

The rest of the food by Carnitas Snack Shack was good but I've had better at other beer events. If I lived closer I would definitely do this event again but since it's nearly impossible to get public transportation from the train to North Park I paid for an Uber each way.

I'm excited that we finally took the time to check out the full size brewery in North Park.  I've been a big fan of Mike Hess's beers since we first tried them in his Miramar nano brewery in 2011. Each beer is phenomenal and I mean it!

Beer Brewing Company

We were a little late to the game on visiting Beer Brewing Co. here in Oceanside and I'm kind of sad we hadn't visited sooner!

This funky little brewery is tucked in behind Bull Taco and the Wrench & Rodent Seabasstropub. I know that sounds like a big jumble but I promise you those are the names and they're also awesome. A gourmet taco shop, an eclectic sushi restaurant and a tiny brew house all tucked in one building. Try each of them!

The night we visited there were two beers on tap. The 96 lb. IPA was fresh and delicious. I had a glass of the Coalfire Stout which had the malt toasted in the coal pizza oven at the Privateer, another great Oceanside restaurant.

Go, kick back, grab some sushi and have a beer on the patio. Yes!

A Day Among Giants {wedding invitation design}

Over the summer I had the pleasure of designing wedding invitations for my cousin and his lovely bride-to-be. They were set to get married at the Bohemian Grove which might be the most secluded and coolest place on earth. It's a big encampment deep in the redwoods and it's amazing. The happy couple wanted their wedding invitations to reflect the Grove, be a bit fancy but generally simple and understated. I think we did it!

The Grove's towering trees are incredible and the day was even better than I could have imagined.

Thanks, Melissa and Andrew for letting me be part of such a fun day!
